3 Useless Riding Accessories Never For Riders

The craze of riding and touring in India is rising significantly and with this everybody wants a piece of this new blown niche and for that influencers are ready to do anything, Even if they have to, they promote/recommend those products which are completely useless and  we’re gonna talk about today with this article.

Remember all these accessories may look good but they are completely useless and will NOT improve your riding quality in any way.Consider them purely for looks and not at all suggested to anyone.

1. Motorcycle Wheel Cover

THe Most hyped product right now and the first ever choice of new beginner squid riders, They’re supposed to protect your wheels from dirt and scratches. Sounds good in theory, right? But here’s the reality. These cheap plastic wheel cover are not going to do any good for your motorcycle

  • Performance: These covers can actually compromise with your bike’s aerodynamics and cooling performance.  You may feel a drag when you push the throttle there’s a wobble or sudden jerk which can actually be dangerous.
  • Handle Wobble: Putting these on on your motorcycle can also cause wind buffeting between wheels, compromises handling on high speeds and many riders have faced wobbling issues in their motorcycle also.
  • Breaking: Your brake pads need air. The tiny holes you see in your disc are also there to cool down the disc and improve braking performance. Now when you add wheel covers there’s almost zero airflow for your breaks and will take more time for your breaks to cool down.

In short, wheel covers are more of a “Takleef” than they’re worth.

2. Automatic Wiper for Helmet

Ok, Now i really don’t know how and why this product got viral. Maybe because it’s completely useless or because someone lost his car and he wanted to remember that by using this to get that same vibe, but utter nonsense product.  Imagine having a tiny windshield wiper on your helmet visor. It sounds cool, looks cool especially for rainy rides, but here’s the problem with this product.

  • Heavy Head: Helmets are designed to be light and comfortable. Adding a wiper system on the visor directly makes your precious helmet and visor heavier. If you’re using a good quality well certified helmet then you will know how important weight distribution is in a helmet. This Wiper Will shift that weight completely.

  • Better Alternatives: There are simpler solutions like rain repellent sprays or getting an anti rain film installed on your helmet visor. That is much more practical and super practical. These methods are straightforward.

An automatic helmet wiper is a fancy fix for a problem that’s already easily managed.

3. Fancy Motorcycle Mirror with (Zoomed-In Vision)

I love my motorcycle mirrors, maybe because I know how to use them or maybe because mirrors have saved my life a million times from speeding cars coming from behind.

Young indian riders seeing all those fancy stylish mirrors, installing them on their motorcycles, completely forgets the purpose of mirrors. Instead of good quality mirrors riders tend to buy those cheap quality zoomed-in motorcycle mirrors, remember, when i say cheap it means i’m talking about poor quality and plastic they use for glass which creates that zoom in effect.

  • Perception: Zoomed mirrors can distort how you judge distance and speed, riding in India is already a challenge and this will make it harder to ride safely.
  • Overly Complicated: Regular mirrors work just fine. Adding zoom makes things unnecessarily complex and that too just for looks?
  • Fiddly Adjustments: Keeping the zoom and angle just right is tricky, especially while you’re riding. It’s more distraction than it’s worth.

I know this fiddly adjustment is not at all a concern for those who install such mirrors; they rely more on their superpowers of being overlay stupid. These fancy mirrors are a classic example of overthinking a simple solution.

Conclusion

While many influencers might rave about these accessories, a good rider, a sensible rider knows they’re useless and can never do any good. When choosing gear for your bike, it’s best to stick with tried-and-true items that genuinely improve your riding experience. Save your money and your sanity by avoiding these overhyped gadgets.
